About Tom Tolkien
Tom Tolkien is a teacher, education consultant, freelance photographer and web designer who lives and works in North Yorkshire in the United Kingdom. Many years as a senior management teacher teaching in schools in the UK have lead to consultancy commissions including social media in education advice, assessment solutions, photographic commissions, prospectus writing/design and website design. Tom graduated from the University of Leicester with a BA (Hons) in History and Politics, and from the University of DeMontfort, Bedford, with a PGCE. He has taught English, ICT and History amongst other subjects and has held subject coordinator, head of department and senior management roles.
EXPERTISE
PHOTOGRAPHY: Landscape, Gardens, Macro, Reportage, Editorial, Creative Commons, Travel, Corporate. No weddings or portraiture. WRITING: Proof reading, copy-writing, original creative text, prospectus and marketing material origination and production.
COMMISSIONS
Tom Tolkien is also available for commissions. Recent projects have included photographing private gardens and creating original material for company websites and prospectuses.

Tom uses Nikon equipment, including a Nikon D7000 18-105 VR Kit. Lenses used include the Nikon 20mm f2.8, 35mm f1.8, 50mm f1.4, 60mm f2.8, 85mm f1.8, 105mm f2.8, 180mm f2.8 and the Sigma 14mm f2.8.
PHOTOGRAPHY PROCESSING
Tom uses Adobe Lightroom for workflow, including plugins by Jeffrey Friedl, and Photoshop for processing.
